What is Parenting Support

Last Updated on Monday, 11 April 2016 11:53 Written by Administrator Monday, 17 November 2014 08:44

Parenting Support is evidence-based and aims to increase support for parents/carers of children aged 18 months —18 years old at risk of negative outcomes. The parenting support service supports parents/carers to ensure that they receive a coordinated package of parenting support.

Families who would benefit from parenting support include those with children who are at risk of:

  • Poor school attendance
  • Exclusion from school
  • Becoming involved in anti-social behaviour
  • Families identified as needing early intervention for mild to moderate mental health difficulties
  • Substance misuse (drugs or alcohol)

To find out more about the courses that we have on offer in Lambeth please click on the links below:

i) Who can refer to parenting support -

Parents can self-refer onto programmes. Any professional or organisation will also be able to refer a parent onto a programme. The consent of the parents should be gained prior to referral being made; the only exception to this is where attendance of the programme is a condition of Parenting Order.

ii) How to refer to Parenting Support

Parents and Professionals should refer using the Parenting Referral Form to streamline the process however professionals can also refer by using the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) form.
