Special Provision in Lambeth providing post 16 education

There are four special schools and four mainstream schools with specialist resource bases in Lambeth that provide post 16 education for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Special schools

  • The Michael Tippett School - a college for young people 19 to 25 with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. .
  • Turney School - that caters for young people aged 16 – 18 with learning difficulties with associated Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Lansdowne School - that caters for young people aged 16 – 18 with learning difficulties with associated Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Elm Court School - a school for students with learning difficulties with associated social and communication needs, with many of the students also with autism.
  • Lambeth College - the college offers a range of courses that will meet different needs. Programmes are offered that have been specifically created for young people with SEND.

Vanguard Special School

The Vanguard Free School, should open in September 2018, the school will support young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This will support young people aged 16-19 when the new intake aged 11-16 years reach that age.

Mainstream Schools with resource bases

  • The Elmgreen School with additional provision to support young people aged 16 -18 with hearing impairment
  • Dunraven School with additional provision to support young people aged 16 – 18 with speech, language and communication needs
  • City Heights E-ACT Academy has as additional provision to support young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This will support young people aged 16-18 as the current intakes reach that age
  • London Nautical School has additional provision to support young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) this will support young people aged 16-18 as the current intake reaches that age.

Training Provider

  • Roots and Shoots provides vocational training for young people aged 16-19 year olds who have had difficulty coping in the traditional educational system.
