Date of opening: September 2016 South Bank Engineering UTC What is a UTC' A University Technical College is a type of secondary school for 14 to 19 year olds led by a University sponsor. It offers learning in a practical context with support from leading national and international employers. A typical UTC: - Is a 14 to 19 school with 500'800 pupils and has a longer school day - Is backed by a university and industry sponsors - Provides an integrated curriculum where academic subjects relate to and reinforce the technical specialism - Ensures that each student has a clear choice of progression routes into higher education, apprenticeships and employment South Bank Engineering UTC South Bank Engineering UTC will offer an employment oriented curriculum delivered in an innovative and vibrant learning environment for 600, 14'19 year old pupils. The UTC is sponsored by London South Bank University, Purico, Skanska, Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. South Bank Engineering UTC will provide an exciting blend of high quality academic and technical learning within its specialisms and an innovative approach to learning in core GCSE and A-Level subjects. The South Bank Engineering UTC will focus on engineering for the building and health sectors. In addition to strong academic studies, the UTC will equip students with the technical and employability skills that are sought after by employers, providing our learners with exciting career opportunities.
